GREGORIAN CHANT AND EARLY POLYPHONY

The workshop is available for beginners or advanced music students  (from the age of 15 years old), amateur or professional musicians of any religious persuasion interested in historically informed interpretation of  Gregorian chant and Early Polyphony. The participants should be able to sing.

The main topics of the workshop are:

– “The mystery of Gregory the Great” – the origin and notational types of Gregorian chant

– Milestones of Gregorian chant history – compositional styles

– Hildegard von Bingen – the manifestation of medieval mind

– Early Polyphony

– Practice of selected pieces for the final concert

Daily between 25 and 29  September from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Concert on 29th afternoon.

For HAMU students participation is free of charge
Price includes free entrance to the concert and lecture by Michaël Lévinas.
